I honestly can’t believe how bad this place was. What a complete joke of a “scare park.” The rooms were pathetic — cheap decorations, broken props, and lazy setups that looked like someone threw them together in a rush. The so-called “actors” were even worse — no energy, no effort, and definitely no scares. Most of them just stood around or laughed like they couldn’t wait to go home. And apart from the disappointing walk through those sad excuse-for-scare rooms, there was nothing else to do. No atmosphere, no entertainment, no reason to stay longer than ten minutes. The whole thing felt like a scam. Save your money and your time — this place isn’t worth either. I’d give zero stars if I could.
ZERO STARS! It’s sad just how bad this attraction is. 3 scare mazes, nothing about any of them was scary, immersive, creative or fun. Advertised as “Scotland’s most intense scare experience” “sudden jump scares, spine-chilling encounters” “loud noises, shocks, scares, tight corridors, low ceilings, darkness, smoke machines” pretty much none of this existed. The only smoke machine I saw was unplugged and sitting in the corner of one of the queues. There was little to no decorating of the mazes and what was there felt like minimal effort and cheapest possible. Nothing says scary like a shovel tie wrapped to a pallet *gasps in fear*.
One maze, Blackout, was supposed to be set in a slaughterhouse and an assualt of your senses as you were blindfolded for the entire thing. Which in reality meant they could get away with an entire maze having no design effort whatsoever. No one would think a few fans blowing and the occasional banging on a wall in the distance is an assault to the senses. It’s an insult to a paying customer expecting “a maze of meat hooks, blood stained walls, scraping of blades on the floor” etc etc. It’s nigh on false advertisement. Hardly any scare actors and the ones that did appear (maybe two in each maze at a push) barely did any acting or scaring. It’s like they just couldn’t be bothered.
The clown maze was equally poor. Now that we weren’t blindfolded we could see in all it’s glory the total lack of themeing, props, special effects. Just plywood walls and a few fishing buoys hanging up for the most part. No cool and immersive sets. Tons of the black curtains where scare actors had the opportunity to jump out at you (that weren’t hidden at all btw so you could see it all coming) but alas we passed 99% of the curtains with no scare actors jumping out at all. So much for “unrelenting”
As for other entertainment on site there was really none. The “Classic fairground rides… with a terrifying twist” consisted of two rides and one game stall. What the terrifying twist was remains a mystery to me. Not even a haunted house or halloween prizes, I mean come on.
Overall and the tldr is it felt like a last minute cash grab idea from people with no real passion for the season or scare mazes. Putting the “con” in “Conifox”. The no refunds and stricly no filming in the mazes should’ve been a red flag. Felt like a total rip off. Really disappointing and i’d highly recommend you not wasting your time and money going if it’s on again next year.
