It was okay overall. Not very scary though and was expecting more. The mazes were some of the quickest I’ve gone through which was poor considering how long you wait in the queues. Better pacing of arrival times (and sticking to it) alongside fast track options would be good. Would’ve been better with more performers interacting in the queues and bar area (more like farmagheddon). The last maze where you put a bag on your head and just basically get hit on the head or tickle your feet was rubbish and not worth the wait at all.
Wouldn’t go back there. Maybe if I was a lot younger and new to scare mazes.
We attended newsham scream park last Saturday for the first time and unfortunately we were very disappointed.
The central area did have good food and drinks options, however due to the ques for three of the mazes starting here it got crowded very fast. In addition the toilets were in a state, very few had paper and many were full and blocked, and this was at 7pm on Saturday, so I’d dread to know what they were like later in the evening.
The entertainment was okay, we saw the singer on stage and the roaming characters who were all good. Unfortunately every time a flash dance started we were in a que so I can’t comment on it.
Now on to the mazes
The first maze Larst Resort, the concept was brilliant, in the first room the Dr set up the theme but unfortunately it didn’t follow through. You basically went down some stairs did a circle round a room then back down the stairs, rinse and repeat. The room you circled would have one actor, a curtain and a prop, Very underwhelming. the last room also had potential with the smoke and maze but the one actor and no connection to the story made it fall flat. Accessibility was also an issue with so many stairs, overall this maze was poor
Second maze Phantasma’s Hall of freaks, once again a strong start and intro however the maze was made up of curtains so you could clearly see into the next section, the props were good but they were not connected to the actors in the scene, pulling you out of the scares. I will praise the masks in this maze the swamp creature was very good. Overall it was okay.
Third maze Witch Hunt, once again a strong start with the judge and the sentencing scene but it all fell apart as soon as the blindfold came in. hooded/blind fold mazes aren’t for me but I can understand the appeal, with the fear of the unknown, however this maze was a blindfolded walk while I was smacked with a broom on my legs and blasted in the face with air repeatedly, after the first time it was just annoying. Once the blind folds removed it’s over … Very poor.
Fourth and last maze was Victorian Psycho, this was by far the best maze. The creepy start, the exposition in the dinning room, following the candles, the costumes and the darkness were amazing however it was so short, by the time we’d got into the flow and getting scared it was over. Very unsatisfying.
Overall the mazes were disappointing or too short, the facilities were hit or miss and the entertainment was okay. In conclusion It was not worth £35 ticket we won’t be back.
